Want to save a spot for it on your vanity again: Aesop’s Fragrant Fables reinvents classic scents, with new member “Unforeseen Aer” debuting too
Behind this new fragrance lies a romantic story about the wind…
Summary
- To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its personal fragrances, Aesop is officially launching the new Fragrant Fables collection.
- The collection comprises 12 eau de parfums in total. The first drop of 8 scents will launch in September 2026, with the second wave scheduled for February 2027.
- Making its debut in the lineup, the new fragrance Unforeseen Aer centers on nutmeg as its key note, paired with geranium and rosemary to subvert the classic fougère structure.
- The bottle has been updated with a textured cap inspired by Melbourne basalt and a rounded-arch base, while the spray is now removable to make recycling easier.
Do you remember Aesop’s first personal fragrance, “Marrakech”, released 20 years ago? Its distinctive blend of herbs and spices opened many people’s eyes to niche, unconventional fragrances. Now, two decades later, the brand draws on years of essential-oil blending expertise and its reverence for literature to officially launch the new Fragrant Fables Collection, giving existing scents a poetic soul while introducing striking new creations.

When classic scents become contemporary fables
The new Fragrant Fables Collection comprises 12 eau de parfums, inspired by the origin of the brand’s name: Aesop, the ancient Greek fabulist. The brand has given its beloved scents fable-like titles and central themes. For instance, Tacit has been reimagined as “Tacit Truths”, which explores trust, while Karst becomes “Eternal Karst”, symbolizing resilience amid change.
The launch will roll out in two phases. The first eight fragrances will arrive in September 2026: “Erémia,” “Aurner,” “Eidesis”, “Rōzu”, “Tacit,” “Karst,” “Hwyl”, and the brand-new “Unforeseen Aer.” The rest of the collection is expected to launch in February 2027. Each box is also printed with its own fable-like verse and question, offering a brief, quiet moment of reflection with every pick-up of the fragrance.
A minimalist work of art for your vanity
Beyond the reimagined fragrance concepts, the bottle design has also received a thoughtful update. It retains the familiar brown glass, now in a taller silhouette with a rounded base. Its elegant proportions give the lines a more sculptural feel.
The cap’s distinctive rock-like texture is perhaps the most eye-catching detail. It was inspired by basalt rock commonly found in Melbourne, Australia, where Aesop was founded. Its slightly rough feel echoes nature’s raw texture, while the bottle features metallic amber lettering and a debossed emblem. To put its sustainability commitment into practice, the brand has also adopted an easy-to-remove spray mechanism to make recycling easier.
New fragrance “Unforeseen Aer” arrives: a pure, airy breeze that defies expectations
Among the fragrances launching this time, the most anticipated is the brand-new “Unforeseen Aer Eau de Parfum”. Built around the question, “How does change nourish our lives?”, its fable tells of a breeze that once feared chaos, then learns to find grandeur and joy in wild currents, encouraging us to rethink life’s “imperfections” and changes.
Each fragrance is composed of a “Radical Ingredient” and a “Fabulist Accord.” For this scent, the perfumer uses nutmeg as the Radical Ingredient, revealing a warm, complex depth. It is paired with a Fabulist Accord of geranium, striking lavender, and rosemary, evoking the crisp scent of pure air moving across rugged highlands. Slightly spicy warmth intertwines with intensely crisp herbal notes to create an unconventional fougère fragrance with a distinctive character.
Select fragrances from Aesop‘s Fragrant Fables Collection are now officially available in Hong Kong. If you’re looking for a literary scent to accompany quiet moments of reflection, keep an eye on the brand’s upcoming release announcements.
