Ballet sneakers still aren’t fading out yet! ASICS’ new collab is covered in pearls and piercings — is this the next it sneaker?
ASICS just got so much more refined!
From Cecilie Bahnsen’s romantic florals to the stream of low-profile shoes and ballet sneakers, ASICS has become one of the sneaker brands fashion fans have been watching most closely in recent seasons. Before fall officially arrives, another eye-catching new release is joining the mix. This time, ASICS has teamed up with New York lifestyle brand Gohar World to turn the GEL-DS TRAINER SP into a Sneakerina that falls somewhere between a track spike, ballet shoe, and piece of jewelry. The pearls and metal rings on the upper alone are enough to set it apart from the recent ballet-shoe craze.

When track shoes meet ballet flats, ASICS gets seriously refined

Founded by sisters Laila Gohar and Nadia Gohar, Gohar World has long been known for turning tableware and home goods into slightly surreal art objects. Now, the brand is entering the sneaker space for the first time with ASICS’ new GEL-DS TRAINER SP. Inspired by track spikes from the mid-2000s, the silhouette has been streamlined with the delicate lines of a ballet flat. It retains the functional feel of a sneaker while adding the Balletcore sensibility the fashion world has loved in recent years.
Pearls, black onyx, metal rings: Sneakers are wearing jewelry, too

What really draws the eye are the individual embellishments on the upper, as though they had been collected on a whim. Gohar World adds charms including Chicken Foot Pearl, Potato Pearl, Baroque Pearl, and black onyx, along with stainless-steel rings and silver-plated brass Gohar Beans. Delicate pearls meet metal details with a slight punk edge, creating a deliberately imperfect, offbeat charm. The black pair also comes with black and orange laces, so you can switch up the lacing to suit your outfit.
It looks good, and you can wear it all day: Launching September 1
Though it looks like an art object, the sole retains ASICS’ signature performance features, including the TRUSSTIC support system and rearfoot GEL cushioning technology. Laila Gohar hopes it can take the wearer from a morning trip to the market to dinner around the table with friends at night. That also captures what makes Sneakerinas so appealing right now: they go with dresses and jeans, and they’re genuinely comfortable enough to walk in all day.
The Gohar World x ASICS GEL-DS TRAINER SP is priced at US$ 218 and will officially go on sale on the Gohar World website at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on September 1, 2026. If you’re tired of sweet takes on ballet sneakers, this new pair with pearls, metal hardware, and a touch of quirky charm may be just the thing to add to your wish list.
