Japan’s favorite HOKA sneakers just went loafer: meet the limited-color Speed Loafer you’ll want this season
HOKA’s new Speed Loafer blends its signature cushioned sole with a loafer upper, dropping in two limited colors that are hard to choose between.
Which pair of shoes have you picked up this summer? Retro-inspired low-profile trainers have been everywhere lately, and sneaker loafers, which bring a sneaker’s casual feel to a more polished silhouette, are just as popular—especially with those who like their looks a little less conventional. Following New Balance’s hybrid designs, HOKA, a favorite among Japanese women, is joining the conversation with a new style that pairs comfort with fashion-forward appeal.

Blending a classic silhouette with high-performance details, HOKA’s “Speed Loafer,” introduced earlier this year, quickly drew attention. The shoe carries over the signature midsole of the “Speedgoat 5” and pairs it with a Vibram Megagrip rubber outsole, retaining excellent traction and support for all kinds of everyday settings. Its loafer-style upper features a leather lining, suede protective overlays, and paneling at the heel, while tassel trim across the vamp lends the design an unexpected mix of styles.

After the original black design sparked a rush to buy, HOKA is releasing two new Speed Loafer colorways: one with a black outsole, off-white tasseled loafer upper, and matching lining; the other in brown with a purple lining. The HOKA Speed Loafer collection will officially go on sale August 8, 2025, and in Taiwan, it will be available exclusively through BEAMS. If you’re looking for a new pair of shoes, keep an eye on this release.
