Better Late Than Single favorite Jae-yoon is officially off the market, and the production team is spilling behind-the-scenes details on Ji-yeon and Jeong-mok’s intimate kiss scene.
Netflix’s Better Late Than Single brings together 12 people who have never dated before to live under one roof, shed the label of lifelong singlehood, and grow along the way. The series recently came to a close, and in a new interview, the production team shared several behind-the-scenes stories, along with some happy news.

The Better Late Than Single team had especially happy news to share: Jae-yoon, the warm-hearted introvert, has found a girlfriend outside the show. Though Jae-yoon was initially very shy and lacking in confidence, and did not find a match during the series, viewers found comfort in his remarkable growth—from speaking timidly to expressing his feelings clearly. In today’s interview, the production team revealed that he has been dating an older girlfriend for the past two weeks. They shared the news with his consent and clarified that she is not a participant from the show, but someone he met elsewhere.

Another point of discussion was, of course, Ji-yeon and Jeong-mok’s kissing scene during their two-day, one-night date. One reporter asked directly, “Why didn’t you edit out the audio of Ji-yeon and Jeong-mok in bed?” The production team responded, “As a dating reality show, we did not want to intervene too much. If we cut too many scenes, wouldn’t it seem as though the production team had decided their relationship for them?”

All of the cast members are adults. Their identity as lifelong singles may have made the moment more surprising for viewers, but kissing is a perfectly normal part of a relationship. If two people on a date like each other and are being their authentic selves, there is even less reason for the production team to cut the scene, especially as this was their first experience of its kind.
