This Mid-Autumn Festival, Chiikawa and friends are back with new looks to celebrate the holiday with everyone! Organized by creative brand AllRightsReserved (ARR), the CHIIKAWA ARTIVERSE Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival limited-time event will pop up at AIRSIDE in Kai Tak from September 21 to October 4. Centered on a Mid-Autumn lantern festival with a distinct Hong Kong feel, the exhibition re-creates popular photo spots and transforms the classic nostalgic paper lanterns many remember into limited-edition collectibles.
Chiikawa Nostalgic Lantern Details
The highlight of this much-anticipated new Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival merchandise collection is the way it incorporates the traditional nostalgic lanterns familiar to Hong Kongers into the characters’ adorable silhouettes. Chiikawa takes the form of a soft pink accordion paper lantern, Hachiware becomes a classic goldfish lantern, and Usagi transforms into a lively bunny lantern.
Especially adorable are the lantern plushies, which feature handles modeled after traditional lanterns. Lift the handle, and each plush becomes like a little lantern you can carry with you, perfectly suited to the festive atmosphere. For something you can take along more easily, there are also lightweight lantern plush charms in the same designs to hang from your bag. In addition to the plushies, the venue will offer themed capsule toys and a range of souvenirs. To give more fans a chance to buy the items they want, strict purchase limits will be in place: each visitor may purchase 1 lantern plush and 1 plush charm in each design, while all other products are limited to 2 per design.
2D Carousel Photo Spot
Alongside the merchandise, the event will also re-create the playful 2D CHIIKAWA Carousel photo spot, where visitors can take photos with the characters amid the festive lantern-festival atmosphere.
As a thank-you to fans who supported the earlier CHIIKAWA ARTIVERSE special exhibition, the first 5 days of the event, from September 21 to 25, will be reserved for priority registration by ticket holders. From September 26 through October 4, the event will open to the public. No advance registration or timed-entry ticket is required; simply line up on the second floor of AIRSIDE for free admission.
