Woven Details Hidden in a Stamp: Celebrating Its 60th Anniversary, Bottega Veneta Gets an Official Italian Postage Stamp
This time, you can own a piece of the classic without buying a handbag!
Summary
- Official tribute: Poste Italiane featured the brand in a stamp series celebrating Made in Italy and industrial excellence, recognizing its 60 years of craftsmanship.
- Retro details: The stamp comes in classic dark green, reproducing an archival logo featuring a woven texture at the center and the words "dal 1966."
When you think of Bottega Veneta, its signature woven leather or that instantly recognizable green usually comes to mind first. This time, however, what’s catching people’s attention isn’t a new handbag, but a small, exquisite official Italian postage stamp. To celebrate the brand’s 60th anniversary, Poste Italiane unveiled a dedicated commemorative stamp for Bottega Veneta at the Palazzo Piacentini in Rome, adding it to the official national series honoring the excellence of “Made in Italy” craftsmanship.
Instead of a handbag, it features the original craft emblem
Interestingly, the stamp design skips any of the brand’s popular handbags in favor of Bottega Veneta’s original historical crest.
At the center of the off-white perforated paper, the brand’s signature dark green outlines a classic crest representing “Labor et Ingenium” (Craft and Creativity). The heart of the emblem subtly reveals the iconic geometric weave, with a clean “BOTTEGA VENETA” printed above and “dal 1966” below. This pays homage to the brand’s 1966 roots in the Veneto region while underlining its core heritage of craftsmanship.
While few of us physically mail stamped letters in the digital age, seeing Italian artisanal aesthetics condensed into such a tiny square still feels romantic and grounded. For fans of BV, it is an understated, deeply meaningful keepsake well worth holding onto for years to come.
