LFW: Burberry’s Fall/Winter 26 show is “very London” — follow this guide to pick a trench coat for 100% laid-back chic
It’s not just trench coats — there are so many gorgeous coats too!
Fashion week’s packed schedule has reached its second stop in London. Alongside the surprise Simone Rocha × adidas Originals collaboration, there’s also Burberry, led by creative director Daniel Lee. Leaving last season’s muddy countryside behind for London’s familiar wet, chilly black asphalt, Lee described the Fall/Winter 2026 show as “very London.”

Burberry brought its Fall/Winter 2026 show back to the concrete jungle: taxis move slowly along rain-soaked streets, while the faint sound of a phone speaker drifts from a night bus. In Daniel Lee’s interpretation, the tension between tradition and youth isn’t a conflict, but a spark. He describes this season’s characters as follows:
“Everyone is going somewhere; everyone is getting ready to go out. We walk the same streets, lit by the same streetlights, and all feel that thrill the city brings at night.” — Daniel Lee, Burberry creative director
Classic elements are reconfigured and deconstructed as inspiration for menswear, with coats, tailcoats, and silk shirts worn in a more youthful way. Functional pieces paired with leather bomber jackets, hoodies, and raincoats take on an eveningwear feel. The overall effect is clear and direct, with rich, steady colors creating a more refined, considered, clean-lined look suited to night and day alike.
In the womenswear, trench coats are draped over elegant satin dresses like accessories. The relaxed cuts have an easy, laid-back feel, much like the natural way Londoners dress, as if they’ve casually thrown on a beloved coat. This casual style is redefined through materials: coat edges are left in raw-cut wool or remade in checks. Trench collars are trimmed with pleated grosgrain, while smooth lambskin leather gleams with an iridescent sheen like gasoline reflecting off the road at night.
The overall style is more refined, fashionable, and sensual. Set to a soundtrack by renowned London musician FKA twigs, it turns the city’s hazy sense of movement into melody. The overall effect is as distinctive as the venue itself: a reconstruction of Tower Bridge inside Old Billingsgate, wrapped in scaffolding and lit by streetlights, transforms a landmark once associated with grandeur into an everyday, functional presence.
