A vast expanse of white salt stretching to the horizon, dotted with a few silver trailers, with only mountains and a shifting sky in the distance. Just looking at the images released by Samkani Camp makes you wonder: what would it be like to spend a night here, taking in the scenery after sunset? Designed by A&K Sanctuary, this new campsite will bring guest rooms straight into Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni.

Samkani Camp will reportedly consist of six Airstreams—five serving as guest suites, and the sixth providing a shared dining and lounge space. With their curved bodies and silver exteriors, the trailers look a bit like space capsules against the vast landscape, making the accommodation itself a part of the scenery.

The suite interiors will feature Bolivian blue marble and chrome details, while the dining area includes a bar. From the exterior to the inside, the project offers a much more refined take on “living in a trailer.” But the most exciting part is still imagining how much time you can spend just staring out the window after waking up each day.

From white salt patterns to the night sky: scenery worth taking in slowly

The look of the Salar de Uyuni changes with the seasons and surface water levels. It takes on different charms, ranging from distinct salt patterns in the dry season to a mirror reflecting the sky when water conditions are right. Samkani Camp plans to provide private guides and drivers to help guests explore the salt flats, volcanic caves, and other attractions, with stargazing also built into the experience.

The camp is scheduled to open in late 2027, making it an ideal addition to your future travel list. Rather than rushing to take photos and leave, it sounds much more appealing to stay in this landscape, watching the light slowly shift before welcoming the night.
