Following the popularity of the 574 and 530 SL, a new surprise was spotted on models’ feet at the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris. For this fifth year of their collaboration, New Balance and Miu Miu skipped a rework of their previous hits to focus on the RC150, a classic running shoe from the late ’90s.
This retro silhouette, already a rare find on the market, has been deconstructed by Miu Miu to become lighter and softer. Several eye-catching design details on the upper give these running shoes a rebellious yet playful personality.
Why are the laces tied at the toe?
The most striking feature at first glance is definitely the toe design. Unlike standard running shoes that center the laces on the instep, this RC150 adds external loops at the front, allowing the laces to be loosely knotted over the toes. This small adjustment breaks the conventional rules of running shoes, and because the laces are interchangeable, you can easily swap in different colors or materials to match your outfit.
Contrasting zigzag stitching on mesh
The upper is crafted from soft, flexible technical mesh featuring extensive contrast zigzag embroidery. These seemingly distressed, asymmetrical lines break up the monotony of the mesh and create a layered visual effect. Paired with a retro palette inspired by ’90s runners, the combinations—whether soft light tones or bold contrasts—exude a sense of effortless style.
The lightness of just 150 grams
The RC150 earned its name from the ultra-lightweight design it debuted with, weighing only 150 grams. This collaboration preserves that advantage, utilizing an UltraLight sole to maintain agility and comfort.
