Only 4 Seats Per Session: 5-Course Coffee OMAKASE as Tokyo’s Reservation-Only Café Lonich, Makes Its Taipei Debut
A special four-day-only event!
If you’re already used to leaving the menu in a chef’s hands, why not make coffee the star of the table this time? Lonich,, a reservation-only coffee shop from Tokyo’s Kuramae neighborhood, will make its Taipei debut with Taipei-based dining brand Knock Knock Heaven (KKH) from August 13 to 16 for “Design Your Coffee Experience in Taipei.” This four-day limited event brings Lonich,’s popular Coffee OMAKASE experience from Japan to Taipei in its entirety. Each session accommodates just 4 guests, with 5 coffee courses paired with 2 limited-edition dishes and 1 cream cheese bite for a gradual journey through flavor.
Coffee Has Its Own OMAKASE, Too
Coffee OMAKASE is similar to food omakase, with the barista arranging each cup around flavor, temperature, and pacing. Guests can set aside their usual choices and, course by course, discover coffee’s different sides. For this collaboration, Lonich, and KKH have created a limited menu just for Taipei, bringing Japanese coffee craftsmanship together with KKH’s borderless creative cuisine in one course. Coffee is no longer simply an after-dinner drink: each cup has its own place and complements the food, allowing the aromas, acidity, sweetness, texture, and finish to unfold layer by layer.
The overall experience also carries over Lonich,’s pace of service and style of hospitality from Japan. From the opening cup to the final course, the 60-minute experience is a taste exploration with coffee as its guide.
Just 4 Seats Per Session, for 4 Days Only
“Design Your Coffee Experience in Taipei” will be held on the second floor of KKH’s Chengde Nansi location, with 4 time slots daily and no more than 4 seats per session. The course includes 5 coffee courses, 2 limited-edition dishes, and 1 cream cheese bite, priced at NT$ 2,000 per person and available exclusively through online reservations. The intimate seating also allows the barista to give a more detailed introduction to each coffee’s bean variety, brewing method, and changing flavors. Coffee lovers hoping to experience the full course from this reservation-only Tokyo coffee shop should book early.
No Reservation? You Can Still Try Coffee Hand-Brewed by the Founder
Don’t be too disappointed if you don’t get a Coffee OMAKASE seat. During the event, Cream & Bean on the first floor of the same building will become a limited-time coffee shop, “Lonich, at Cream & Bean,” open to walk-in customers. Lonich, CEO Ryosuke Maruyama will also be there to brew coffee himself, offering more than 10 varieties of coffee beans available only in Japan. Even without joining the full course, you can still get to know Lonich,’s brewing philosophy and flavor profile through a cup of pour-over coffee. The limited-time shop will also be open only from August 13 to 16, so coffee lovers may want to mark their calendars.
