Inspired by the distortions and remnants left as relationships are stretched over time, “Contingency” transforms emotions that are difficult to truly sever into lines and structures within the garments. Fabrics are folded, layered, twisted, and draped, then treated with ruching, washed finishes, and distressing, leaving behind unfinished seams and intertwined details. Delicate-looking fabrics contrast with silhouettes that have a sense of weight: as fine as a spiderweb, yet with a distinct, steadfast presence. Continuing neum’s signature loose cuts, the collection uses asymmetrical lines, rich layers, and distinctive materials to give each piece personality in everyday outfits. Whether worn on its own or layered, each piece naturally creates a relaxed look with a sense of design.
Traveling to Milan, where clothing enters a space marked by time

This season’s campaign was shot in Milan, Italy, where neum once again collaborated with creative studio stay chill studio to bring the camera into a traditional Milanese home. The family portraits in the space have been passed down through generations; the faces that remain and are gazed upon echo the relationships and memories explored in the collection. The clothing moves through these classic domestic settings, as if reminding us that some relationships, even after changing, still remain in our lives, spaces, and bodies in one form or another.
Taipei limited-time pop-up: Experience the details and textures in person

neum’s “Contingency” collection officially launched on July 25, and the brand will also host a two-day limited-time pop-up on August 1 and 2, where the full collection will be available to shop. The ruching, draping, and layered details that are already striking in photos may be even more worth experiencing in person.
