Creating a Korean version of Coachella! The four major agencies team up for the first time, FANOMENON coming at the end of next year
Fans really need to set their alarms for this!
Summary
- HYBE, YG, SM, and JYP are jointly investing to launch the 2027 FANOMENON festival.
- The event will take place from December 2 to 12, 2027, at Seoul Arena and KINTEX.
- On-site programming includes concerts by well-known artists, an awards ceremony exclusively for fan clubs, and a K-culture exhibition.
- Official estimates project 520,000 attendees, with the festival set to expand to Los Angeles in May 2028.
The four major K-pop powerhouses, which have previously only shared a stage at year-end award shows, are now joining forces. South Korea’s HYBE, YG, SM, and JYP have announced a joint venture and officially unveiled their first large-scale international festival, “2027 FANOMENON.” Set to take place in Seoul from December 2 to 12, 2027, the event has been described by the Korean Popular Culture Exchange Committee as a “Korean Coachella,” bringing together music performances, cultural exhibitions, and a global fan awards ceremony.

The fans, not the stars, are at the center of these awards
The most interesting twist of this festival is that it gives fans the spotlight. Jointly promoted by JYP’s chief producer Park Jin-young and South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the “FANOMENON Awards” are built around the idea of putting fandoms center stage. Using precise data, the ceremony will select the 10 fandoms that made the greatest contributions during the year and present them with special honors, with idol singers accepting the awards on behalf of their fans.

Going international in 2028
In addition to the events in South Korea, the committee revealed that the project will expand to Los Angeles in May 2028, officially beginning a global touring exhibition and performance series. Unlike past award shows, where entertainment companies competed against one another, this unprecedented collaboration among the four major companies shows their determination to expand K-culture’s global reach. If you love following idols or enjoy experiencing Korean pop culture, this major event, which brings together different forms of entertainment, is undoubtedly a Korea trip to add to your itinerary for the end of 2027.
