For 2026 Milan Design Week, Finnish design brand Marimekko has creatively brought a Finnish garden to Milan with its pop-up restaurant and wine bar, Osteria Fiori di Marimekko. This immersive, multisensory space invites you into a world of prints and is as fun to explore as it is photogenic.
Step into this restaurant and wine bar at Via Ascanio Sforza 75, and you’ll immediately be surrounded by the feeling of spring. With flowers at the heart of the concept, Marimekko blends abstract and figurative blooms to express the brand’s energetic approach to life. Creative Director Rebekka Bay describes it as a space where design, fashion, and architecture meet, presenting Marimekko in full bloom through a sensory experience. Along with striking large-scale textile installations, visitors can join daily bocce games in a courtyard scented with wisteria and jasmine, an ideal spot to spend an afternoon with friends.
New Kukasta kukkaan print: Summer flowers become limited-edition 3D ceramics
The centerpiece of the project is Kukasta kukkaan, a new floral print by designer Erja Hirvi. Meaning “from flower to flower” in Finnish, the name was inspired by bees weaving through summer blooms and creates a vivid scene. Marimekko has transformed the hand-drawn print into exclusive, limited-edition 3D ceramic plates and espresso cups. Best of all, visitors can purchase these limited-edition pieces on site and take home a special memento from Milan Design Week. It also reflects the brand’s artistic legacy, which began with Maija Isola’s first floral print in the 1960s.
A Finnish-style aperitivo menu to try: Chef Maukku’s floral bites
After all that browsing, it’s time to take a break and grab a bite. Marimekko invited Maud Saddok, chef at Helsinki’s well-known Maukku restaurant, to create a Finnish-inspired aperitivo menu for the event. The dishes and floral drinks draw inspiration from the shapes and colors of Marimekko’s classic prints. Enjoy these delicate bites on the sunlit glass terrace, in a cozy private dining room, or in the open-air courtyard. Available all day, they’re perfect for getting into a vacation state of mind.
