Hong Kong’s Landmark just unveiled an eye-catching new addition. Serving as the centerpiece of the “Central Destination” area initiative, the new all-day dining concept THE CHATER is now officially open on the second floor of Landmark Chater.
Step inside, and it feels like you’ve traveled back to a luxurious first-class train station from the golden age of travel. Run by the former Catchic Restaurant & Bar team, the space has an easygoing vibe—making it the perfect spot whether you want to pick up an upgraded takeout, sit down for a casual lunch, or grab a drink with friends after work.
Helmed by the Mandarin Oriental team: signature Hainanese chicken rice and specialty teas
The most highly anticipated detail? THE CHATER’s food and drinks are entirely crafted by the culinary team at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. The menu cleverly blends local flavors with international dishes, anchored by two signature plates: the beloved Hainanese chicken rice served with seasoned rice, bok choy, and goji berry chicken soup, and the richly flavored miso cod paired with Chinese kale and pickled ginger.
If you want to switch things up, there are also options like a duck confit charcoal burger, Aegean pulled pork, and a Black Angus ribeye steak. For the Central office crowd, there’s even a Hong Kong-style lunch set available on weekdays. Dessert lovers definitely can’t miss the Hong Kong milk tea ice cream, black sesame ice cream, signature chestnut Mont Blanc, and vegan chocolate cake!
The drinks menu is just as thoughtfully designed. The artisanal tea series is priced at HK$ 68 a cup, with standouts like “Hong Kong Central,” a nod to the city’s classic teas made with rich Ceylon and Assam, and the “Golden Carriage,” which brings together roasted Oolong, brown sugar boba, and caramelized brown sugar cream. As night falls, they also serve bar bites like Mediterranean seafood crispbread and crispy salmon—pair them with a crafted cocktail for the perfect after-work treat.
Extending the experience: “Platform 1889” on the third floor
Beyond the second-floor indoor space, the experience stretches up to “Platform 1889” on the third floor. Inspired by vintage train carriages, this terrace space is named in tribute to Hongkong Land co-founder Sir Catchick Paul Chater and the year the company was founded, 1889. Sitting here, you can overlook the busy Central skyline and get a perfect angle of Louis Vuitton’s large-scale outdoor art installation—making it the area’s next big photo spot.
