Aman Resorts, the luxury hospitality brand known for its understated luxury and serene aesthetic, is set to open its fourth property in Japan in Niseko, Hokkaido. Not only will this be the brand’s first property in Hokkaido, it will also be Aman’s first resort in Japan designed around wellness and spa experiences.

Aman Niseko is set on the slopes of Mount Moiwa in Niseko, Hokkaido’s famed ski destination. Surrounded by untouched forests and sweeping mountain views, it enjoys an exceptional natural setting.
In winter, the area is known for its abundant snowfall and world-class powder, drawing ski enthusiasts from around the world. Spring and summer bring hiking, mountain climbing, cycling, and white-water rafting, while fall sees the mountains layered in golden and crimson foliage. It is a true mountain hideaway where you can enjoy the scenery in every season. Most anticipated of all is soaking in a natural hot spring while taking in the snowy views outside the window and Hokkaido’s distinctive sense of calm.

The project was designed by the late master architect Kerry Hill, who also created Aman Tokyo and Aman Kyoto. Continuing the brand’s signature serene aesthetic, it pairs contemporary minimalist architecture with exposed concrete, natural wood, and expansive glass to blend the indoors naturally with the surrounding views. Traditional motifs of the Ainu, Hokkaido’s Indigenous people, are subtly incorporated throughout, interweaving modern design with local culture to create a distinctive mountain retreat.
From private residences to a comprehensive wellness center

As Aman’s first resort in Japan designed around the Wellness concept, one of its biggest draws is its comprehensive spa facilities, including a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, steam room, cold plunge pool, treatment rooms, and natural hot spring pools. Guests can also customize treatments to suit their needs. Soaking in a hot spring while looking out at snowy mountain and forest views through floor-to-ceiling windows offers deep satisfaction for the body, mind, and spirit.
The accommodations are just as impressive! Spanning 187 hectares, Aman Niseko will have only 31 standalone, two-story private residences tucked away in the mountains. Its low-density layout makes guests feel far removed from the bustle of the city, as though they have entered a secluded paradise. Each residence comes with a spacious living area, terrace, dedicated ski equipment room, and private hot spring, while some can be customized to suit guests’ individual preferences.
The resort will also feature restaurants, a bar, a whisky and cigar lounge, a library, an art gallery, and a ski service center, allowing guests to enjoy a comfortable, complete vacation experience even amid the secluded mountains.
