Leaving a zipper undone used to be a minor mistake you’d fix immediately, but at Givenchy’s Spring/Summer 2027 womenswear show, it became the runway’s most captivating and confident style statement. Under the creative direction of Sarah Burton and new Leather Goods Director Marco De Vincenzo, the zipper became the collection’s core element, blending utilitarianism with a punk-armor aesthetic.

For leather goods, new Leather Goods Director Marco De Vincenzo introduced the brand’s new flagship handbag, ‘The Cut’ Hobo Bag. This large-capacity bag features a massive, statement-making zipper that models deliberately left unzipped on the runway. As they walked, the casually opened bags revealed high-contrast neon yellow and vivid linings, creating a striking color-blocked effect. This casual, commanding energy perfectly captures what modern women want in a large bag: a mix of relaxed style and practical storage.
Reimagining a 2012 classic
Beyond handbags, the footwear evoked nostalgia for many longtime fashion fans. Sarah Burton boldly paid homage to and redesigned the legendary Shark Boots originally introduced by former designer Riccardo Tisci in 2012. The new version features an exposed front zipper, which was left completely unzipped on the runway so the material could fold outward naturally, presenting a sharp, punk-armor look packed with a sense of defense.
The accompanying stiletto sandals also feature exposed zipper details, with a heel curved lightly and sharply like a hook. Balancing strength and elegance perfectly, they are definitely one of the most talked-about shoes of the season on social media.
