Jisoo’s zero-bloat secrets revealed: she loves Mala Xiang Guo but isn’t afraid of gaining weight, all thanks to these little tricks
Let me calm my nerves with a hot pot first (just kidding~)
Envious of BLACKPINK’s Jisoo for being able to eat spicy hot pot without getting bloated? It all comes down to a few little tricks. Jisoo generously shared her secret hot pot dipping sauce recipe and high-protein basa fish, and revealed that she does Pilates every day to keep her body fat below 18% and build incredible 11-line abs.
In a video with beauty YouTuber RISABAE, Jisoo revealed that she’d eaten a huge serving of spicy hot pot the night before, yet had no bloating at all the next day, leaving RISABAE stunned. As a serious foodie, Jisoo even joked that if she wants her face to look a little fuller, she has to make a point of eating instant noodles before bed. How does this girl, who has to have dessert after every meal, maintain such an enviable physique?
🌶️ What’s Jisoo’s hot pot dipping sauce recipe?
Among Jisoo’s favorites, hot pot and spicy food are impossible to leave out. For her birthday this year, she even booked an entire hot pot restaurant and invited fans to celebrate with her. Many people worry that spicy food can cause weight gain, but moderate amounts of spice can reduce the secretion of ghrelin, the hormone that stimulates appetite, and may help prevent overeating.
She also shared her own hot pot dipping sauce recipe, packed with chili peppers and cilantro. Chili peppers are low in calories, with only about 20 to 30 kcal per 100 g, and contain more vitamin C than apples. For hot pot ingredients, Jisoo especially recommends basa fish (catfish), which has a soft, tender texture and is high in protein and low in fat. It’s a great alternative to chicken breast if you’re tired of eating it.
How does Jisoo train her 11-line abs?
Beyond eating smart, Jisoo is a serious fitness fanatic in private. Everyone knows she initially started going to the dermatologist and getting skincare treatments with her close friend Hyeri, then got into Pilates through Hyeri as well. Yet Jisoo ended up being even more diligent than the friend who introduced her to it, often making Hyeri feel embarrassed!
To meet the intense physical demands of BLACKPINK’s world tour and various fan events, Jisoo goes to Pilates almost every day. She also makes sure to get enough protein to avoid losing muscle. For women, body fat needs to fall below 18% for definition like this to show. If you want to build the same impressive abs, add more crunches and leg raises to your daily routine.
A foodie’s little weight-loss trick: Find an imaginary rival!
Along with diet and exercise, finding someone to work toward your goals with is also a great approach. Jisoo recently filmed the new Netflix drama “Monthly Boyfriend” with Seo In-guk. Since they both love food, they spend every day on set discussing what to eat. Interestingly, they’re also each other’s imaginary dieting rivals: whenever one notices the other has gotten a little slimmer, it quietly sparks a sense of urgency. Their healthy competitive dynamic is truly adorable.
Speaking as the person who wrote this article, after reading Jisoo’s tips, all I want right now is hot pot (not the point!).
