Cartier brought the second chapter of its High Jewelry collection, “Le Chœur des Pierres,” to Kyoto, a city rich in culture and heritage. Imagining those precious gems, shaped by time, gleaming in the quiet atmosphere of the ancient capital makes for a stunning visual. Yet what stole the show that evening were the stars who appeared wearing the new creations—especially Jisoo, whose neck carried a rich shade of blue you couldn’t take your eyes off.
Jisoo’s 41-carat sapphire was impossible to miss
As global brand ambassador, Jisoo exuded a gentle presence the moment she arrived. She chose the Stellara necklace, anchored by an impossible-to-ignore 41.01-carat Ceylon sapphire at its center. Artisans used openwork motifs and diamonds of varying sizes to frame the central stone in radial lines resembling ripples on water. While it looks substantial, the master jewelers crafted the structure to feel light and fluid. On her, it never looked heavy—just a lively, dancing rhythm.
Nanako Matsushima showcased a completely different mood with the Pelagia necklace, which also features sapphires. Inspired by deep sea currents, the piece centers on a 12.38-carat Madagascar sapphire accented with lapis lazuli, packed with sculptural, geometric appeal.
Haruka Ayase’s yellow diamond and Mio Imada’s emeralds
Anyone who loves striking contrasts would have noticed the Chrysos necklace on Haruka Ayase. Cartier boldly paired a 5.80-carat fancy vivid yellow diamond with obsidian. Neatly arranged yellow and white emerald-cut diamonds, offset by subtle obsidian accents, created a captivating play of light.
Mio Imada chose the singular Smara necklace, built around two Zambian emeralds totaling 13.18 carats, both in an angular sugarloaf cut. Best of all, it carries Cartier’s convertible design tradition: beyond wearing it as a necklace, it converts into a tiara, fulfilling every jewelry fantasy.
Sofia Coppola wore the Polydroma diamond necklace, which weaves a 5.18-carat square emerald-cut diamond into a precious lattice of architectural lines. Kento Kaku and Ryo Yoshizawa also attended, accenting their suits with delicate Panther brooches that showcased distinct expressions of refined charm.
Beyond the glittering gems, the Kyoto gala featured a kabuki dance performance by Hayato Nakamura. Watching these character-filled stones find their place on guests of varying styles felt like listening to a harmonious symphony.
