44th Hong Kong Film Awards nominations announced: Shu Qi makes a strong bid for Best Director, Louis Koo competes for Best Actor with two films

The Hong Kong film industry’s biggest event of the year is here: the Hong Kong Film Awards Association has officially announced the nominees across 18 categories for the 44th Hong Kong Film Awards. Last year’s Best Actress winner Louise Wong and MIRROR member Edan Lui were invited to present the nominations. This year’s list not only sees several long-awaited “legendary” films finally released, but also reflects the deep friendships within the industry. Louise Wong was even moved to tears as she read the Best Actor nominees, in what became the warmest moment of the press conference.
