If you’re planning a trip to Japan soon, you may need to leave a little extra room in your suitcase. Francfranc has just launched the “Nui Lamp Dog,” a dog-shaped lamp that looks like a plush toy. Its round body and fluffy feel are adorable enough, but the best part is that a gentle pat on its head turns on the light, which can even switch between 7 colors.

At first glance, you may not immediately realize that it’s a lamp. Francfranc has given the dog a compact, rounded shape, complete with floppy ears, tiny eyes, and a little nose, then covered the entire body in soft plush fabric. Even when it’s not lit during the day, it can sit by your bed, on your desk, or beside the sofa as a plush decoration. The collection comes in two different “fur colors”: White has longer, fluffier fur, while Ivory features a curly plush texture. Both have the kind of comforting look that makes you want to reach out and pet them.

What really makes you want to add it to your shopping list right away is the way it turns on. No need to hunt for a button: just gently tap the top of the dog’s head, and it lights up with a soft, warm glow. Tap it again to enter the 7-color gradient Illumination Mode. Once you see a color you like, tap its head once more to hold the light on that shade. Use the warm, soft light as a bedside nightlight, or switch to color mode to add a little atmosphere to the room. The simple act of turning on the light by patting its head is already cute enough to have the potential to become a social media hit.

The Francfranc “Nui Lamp Dog” is priced at ¥3,200 and comes in White and Ivory. It will be available starting August 31, 2026, at Francfranc stores across Japan and through the official online store; Francfranc BAZAR will not carry it. It combines a plush toy, nightlight, and home decoration in one, and it doesn’t look as difficult to bring home as a large home accessory.
