Simply rub the stamp gently to release the scent, so the recipient can catch a hint of the garden before even reading the letter.

This isn’t La Poste’s first foray into scented stamps. It has previously released a French baguette stamp that smells like bread and a croissant stamp with a buttery scent. Earlier this year, it also collaborated with French perfume brand Fragonard on a heart-shaped stamp scented with orange blossom. This time, the inspiration moves from the bakery to the garden: centered on flowers, the stamps use special fragrance technology to seal scent into their surfaces. Rub one gently with your finger, and a light floral fragrance emerges.

Beyond its romantic scent, the design makes you want to collect the whole booklet. “Splendeur florale” was designed by French artist Christelle Guénot and includes 12 floral stamps, each with a different design, featuring sunflowers, daffodils, and an array of colorful plants. More interestingly, the stamps aren’t meant to stand alone: when the booklet is opened flat, the flowers and foliage extend and connect with one another to form a complete garden artwork. Each stamp is beautiful on its own, while together they create an entirely different scene.
