#MFW: Demna’s first Gucci show: the return of full-on sexiness! Kate Moss’s backless look shuts down the internet
The moment Kate Moss turned around, the whole venue lost it 😱
The moment the fashion world has been holding its breath for is finally here. Ever since Demna left Balenciaga, everyone has been wondering where he would go next. When news broke that he was taking over Gucci, the question was: How would this master of oversized silhouettes interpret Italian luxury? Gucci’s just-concluded Fall/Winter show gave the clearest answer. He’s no longer playing with complex deconstruction; instead, he’s saying it outright: Sexiness reigns supreme. Gen Z icons Alex Consani and Gabriette even took to the runway themselves. This show is undoubtedly a meeting of a new era and the classics.

If there was one moment that brought social media to a halt, it was when Kate Moss stepped out. Closing the show, she wore a black sequined high-neck gown that seemed understated at first. Yet when she turned around, its daring open back, paired with an exposed Gucci-logo G-string, instantly took us back to the decadent days of Tom Ford’s era. This wasn’t just a tribute; it was Demna’s declaration that Gucci has returned to the ranks of the “unapologetically sexy.”
Gen Z icons take over the runway: A party for the new generation
From the opening look, it was clear that Demna’s ambition wasn’t to please traditional society ladies, but to win over young people. When social media powerhouses Alex Consani, Vivian Wilson, Nettspend, and Fakemink appeared on the runway or in the front row, the atmosphere instantly felt like an underground party.
Backstage, Demna said plainly that he hopes these faces representing underground culture will give Gucci genuine cultural relevance. This is no longer just about clothes; it’s a form of community identity. That “Feeling Gucci” energy is full of passion, fun, and unapologetic allure.
Goodbye to oversized silhouettes, hello to second-skin sex appeal
If you were still hoping for the oversized silhouettes that swallow the body, this season may disappoint. Demna seems to have changed course overnight, turning his focus back to the body itself. The runway was filled with muscle T-shirts, skin-tight leggings, and designs with slits cut up to the top of the thigh.
Some say it recalls Tom Ford-era Gucci, though it feels more like Demna’s own liberation. In his notes, he wrote: “I want to feel sexy, to feel attractive.” At Gucci, he has decided to let go of his baggage and let emotion guide the tailoring. These skin-hugging silhouettes aren’t meant to restrain, but to reveal the most primal desire.
Streetwear elements remain
Of course, Demna’s signature streetwear elements haven’t disappeared completely; they’ve been given a more elevated treatment. This season’s most eye-catching piece is undoubtedly the Trackdress, which combines a casual tracksuit with an elegant dress and blurs the line between partywear and casualwear.
There are also shrink-to-fit jackets worn on their own as tops, creating a refined sense of restraint. Along with sequined sets and redefined legging-cum-trousers, these pieces are clearly made for party boys and girls. Whether you’re heading to a club or simply want to show some attitude on the street, these designs hit the mark for Gen Z’s aesthetic.
