Acne Studios has another surprise collaboration in the works! This time, the brand teamed up with legendary designer Hussein Chalayan, known for his experimental approach, to bring his iconic past creations back to the fashion spotlight. Co-founder and creative director Jonny Johansson has long been a fan of Chalayan. He invited the designer—who has stepped back from the runway in recent years to focus on teaching—back into garment creation, letting their highly experimental design languages collide to ignite a fresh spark.

He also designed the highly discussed “melting dress” for Olivia Rodrigo. The piece gave the garment an illusion of liquefying, challenging traditional notions of clothing silhouettes and showcasing his experimental aesthetic once again.

Denim pieces easily grab the most attention in this collaboration. Acne Studios spliced together classic jeans patterns from Chalayan’s 1996 and 2009 archives to create asymmetrical, layered silhouettes. Another standout is a pair of twisted-cut trousers featuring a trompe l’œil python print that weaves optical illusions straight into the design. By using Acne Studios’ signature denim, knits, and leather, the collection translates these highly conceptual designs into everyday wearable pieces.

The entire capsule features 12 pieces, drawing inspiration from Hussein Chalayan’s iconic series like Ventriloquy (2001), Medea (2002), and Manifest Destiny (2003) to bring his highly experimental past concepts into contemporary wardrobes. The launch also includes an original book, Reference: Hussein Chalayan, limited to 1,000 copies, looking back on the designer’s creative journey.
