First released in 2003 and inspired by traditional tai chi shoes, the TAI-CHI has officially returned as the TAI-CHI OG. It faithfully retains its slim, ground-hugging retro silhouette while subtly improving comfort, bringing this classic shoe from more than 20 years ago into the modern wardrobe.

The early 2000s marked an important period in Onitsuka Tiger’s fashion transformation. Created during this time, the TAI-CHI drew inspiration from traditional tai chi shoes and became one of the signature styles of the brand’s revival, thanks to its elongated shape, clean lines, and thin sole that sits close to the ground. The new TAI-CHI OG references the original last, retaining the first generation’s signature plain toe and low-cut profile. Made from smooth cow leather, the upper features the classic Tiger Stripes on both sides and a slim rubber sponge sole, maintaining sleek, lightweight proportions from toe to heel. Free of elaborate embellishments, it’s especially suited to wide-leg jeans, short skirts, or the low-rise pieces that have been popular in recent years.

While retaining its retro 2000s look, the TAI-CHI OG has updated details for modern wear. The heel of the sole is slightly thicker, while an OrthoLite cushioned insole has been added and made 1 mm thicker than the original. This improves cushioning and walking comfort without changing the shoe’s slim appearance. The release comes in three colorways: white with black Tiger Stripes, black with white Tiger Stripes, and the brand’s most recognizable yellow with black Tiger Stripes. The black-and-white versions are simple and easy to style, while the signature yellow adds an eye-catching focal point to everyday outfits.
