Disney+’s “The Remarried Empress” has been generating buzz ever since its casting was announced, and it has finally released its first teaser and character posters. Adapted from the hit webtoon, which has amassed more than 2.97 billion views worldwide, the series features a star-studded lead cast of Shin Min-a, Joo Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, and Lee Se-young. Just seeing the characters brought to life has already sent fans of the original into a frenzy.
The story begins with the seemingly perfect imperial family of the Eastern Empire. Shin Min-a plays Navier, an intelligent and elegant empress, while Joo Ji-hoon takes on the role of Emperor Sovieshu. However, the arrival of Rasta, a runaway slave played by Lee Se-young, gradually drives a wedge between them and throws the once-peaceful royal court into a storm of love and power.
Meanwhile, Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom, played by Lee Jong-suk, makes his official debut as an important figure who changes Navier’s fate. The teaser also offers a first look at one of the original’s most memorable scenes: when Sovieshu asks Navier for a divorce, she doesn’t try to stop him. Instead, she calmly accepts and immediately asks him to approve her own “remarriage.” This brief scene alone brings the dramatic tension to its peak.
From lavish court settings and detailed costumes to how faithfully the four leads embody their characters, the first live-action adaptation of “The Remarried Empress” has naturally drawn high expectations. Fans are especially eager to see how Shin Min-a and Lee Jong-suk portray Navier and Heinrey’s romance. Disney+’s “The Remarried Empress” will stream exclusively worldwide on November 4, and it looks like another K-drama to add to this year’s year-end watchlist!
