Want a tattoo but afraid of needles? CipherX launches the world’s first microneedle tattoo patch, done in 15 minutes
People who are afraid of pain can finally get tattoos with peace of mind!
Summary
- CipherX has launched a microneedle tattoo patch that lets you complete a tattoo in 15 minutes, pain-free and without bleeding.
- The process doesn’t require traditional tattoo needles; once the patch dissolves, you just peel it off, with no need for bandaging or aftercare.
- In the future, the brand plans to expand into semi-permanent inks and smart medical inks that can monitor blood sugar and body temperature.
Want to leave a personal design on your skin, but hesitate because you’re afraid of the pain of tattoo needles? Technology may soon put those concerns about pain and wound healing to rest. London-based biotech company CipherX.tech has officially launched CX Microdot Tattoos, the world’s first commercially available microdot tattoos, bringing microneedle biotechnology into everyday aesthetics and making the tattooing process completely painless.

Good news for those afraid of needles: a painless experience in 15 minutes
CipherX is surprisingly simple to use: the system consists of a loading dock, a handheld applicator, and microneedle patches printed with a design. To apply it, simply place the patch on the skin and quickly press it with the applicator. The pigment-filled microneedles begin dissolving and releasing color the moment they come into contact with the skin. The entire process takes just 10 to 15 minutes. Once the patch is removed, a faint outline remains beneath the skin, gradually developing into saturated, clear color over the following days. The process is completely painless and doesn’t create a wound.

Say goodbye to complicated aftercare
The most frustrating part of a traditional tattoo is often the healing period afterward: you may need to apply ointment and endure the itching as the wound scabs over. CipherX simplifies aftercare to the extreme. Because its microneedles are exceptionally fine and biodegradable, they don’t create a traditional wound, so there’s no need for bandages or thick protective film. For the first 24 hours, users only need to keep the skin clean and avoid saunas or high-intensity exercise, with almost no disruption to their daily routine.

Beyond the permanent tattoos currently available, CipherX’s technology roadmap also includes semi-permanent ink that naturally fades after a year. It is even developing medical smart ink that can monitor changes in body temperature and blood sugar, as well as invisible ink that appears only under UV light. The public can now book an appointment at its CX Flagship Store in West London. The brand also plans to collaborate with artists and pop-up events to bring this no-fuss form of skin marking to more interested people.
