A single bottle of shower oil has 80,000 people in line? Behind Bangn Body’s sudden rise, the next beauty battleground might not be your face
This shower oil has gone viral
If your bathroom routine involves multiple steps for your face while your body care is still limited to a single bottle of body wash, the latest shift in the beauty world may be worth watching. Australian beauty brand Bangn Body has recently sparked discussion with its Firming Shower Oil. Australian media outlets report that more than 10,000 bottles sold in the first week after launch, with the waitlist now exceeding 80,000 people. The brand’s official social channels previously said the product sold out about two weeks after launch, and restocks have continued to sell quickly. It’s worth keeping in mind that the 80,000 figure comes from sales information the brand provided to the media, rather than an independent third-party count.

All these people are lining up for just a bottle of “shower oil”?
What sets the Firming Shower Oil apart is its oil-to-milk texture, a format familiar from facial skincare that has made its way into the shower. When it comes into contact with water, the oil transforms into a milky foam that cleanses the face and body while helping reduce the dry, tight feeling often left after showering. The formula contains ingredients including glycerin, coffee seed oil, pineapple fruit extract, jojoba oil, and avocado oil, and is designed to cleanse while keeping skin soft and moisturized. The 300 ml bottle is priced at A$ 42.
What may be more worth watching, though, isn’t the product itself. It happens to coincide with a shift in beauty: people are gradually extending skincare concepts once used only on the face to the body.
Your face is covered. Now it’s the body’s turn for the skincare treatment.
In the past, body care usually meant body wash, scrubs, and body lotion. Now, its product categories are increasingly resembling facial skincare: body serums, body retinol, body acids, barrier creams, and now the viral shower oil. Ingredients, textures, and application steps have all become more refined. For those who don’t want to apply several more layers of product after showering, condensing “cleansing + care” into the shower itself also aligns with the recent low-effort beauty trend.
Why has shower oil taken off in particular?
Shower oil isn’t a new product. Products such as L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil have been popular for years. What has changed is how consumers view bathing. Rather than seeking out strong fragrances or lots of lather, people now care more about whether their skin will feel dry afterward, whether a product affects the skin barrier, and whether it can provide care without adding too many steps.
Bangn Body’s sudden popularity is therefore more of a signal: with facial skincare already filling beauty cabinets, beauty brands are moving the next battlefield into the bathroom. The next skincare product that has everyone lining up may not necessarily be a bottle of serum.
