MFW: This pair of Birkenstocks is different — Etro packs in all the collab details... and it can turn into boots in a second!
So this is what love at first sight feels like 🥹
Fashion Week never gets old, largely because there are surprises in every detail. Beyond the designers, celebrities, and runway shows, the early reveal of collaboration collections is always a major talking point. Last time, we covered Simone Rocha × adidas Originals in London; this time, we spotted a collaboration between Etro and Birkenstock in Milan.

Since its founding, Etro has been known for its prints and paisley motifs. For its Fall/Winter 2026 show, creative director Marco De Vincenzo took “Loop Forward” as the theme, layering embroidery and printing techniques to create a journey that feels retro and hippie without losing its glamour or modern edge. The Birkenstock sandals that quietly appeared on the models’ feet also became a social media talking point.
Etro teamed up with Birkenstock’s high-end line, Birkenstock 1774, to give the Boston clog, known for its simple silhouette, a new look. Its clean leather upper is covered in embroidery that echoes Etro’s brand DNA and this season’s theme. Leaf embroidery winds along the sides of the shoe in two thread colors, with details also visible at the back and on the tongue. Engraved metal buckles add weight to Birkenstock’s typically easygoing, casual clogs.
That’s not all: Etro also created a “special accessory” for the collaboration clogs. Made from the same suede as the shoes, the boot covers are worn first, then slipped into the clogs, turning the Boston into Western cowboy boots in an instant.
The Etro x Birkenstock 1774 collaboration is expected to launch around September 2026 at Etro and Birkenstock stores and online. It will come in khaki, sand, and brown, and is also expected to include Birkenstock’s classic Gizeh thong sandals. Pricing has not yet been announced, so those interested can keep an eye out.
