Spanning 564 square meters (about 6,070 square feet), the new flagship was once again designed by Studio Jouin Manku, the leading design studio that has worked with the brand for more than 20 years. This time, the team has transformed the bustle of Central into a tranquil, dreamlike garden while artfully bringing together Hong Kong’s local landscape and high-jewelry craftsmanship.
In recent years, major luxury houses have moved beyond simply pursuing “luxurious decor” in their flagship stores, favoring immersive lifestyle and cultural experiences instead. Van Cleef & Arpels’ relocation undoubtedly takes this sense of “luxury experience” to a new level. As an editor who loves jewelry and interior design, I’m taking an early look at five highlights of this new landmark.
A poetic facade: French aesthetics infused with the spirit of Hong Kong’s mountains and sea
As you walk through Central, this expansive facade spanning three sections is impossible to miss. Clad in soft, light-toned stone, it uses specially textured glass to let natural light filter through like raindrops. Most striking are the oversized white plaster petals and cloud forms, meticulously sculpted by British master craftsmen and floating between two floors.
Studio Jouin Manku says the concept pays tribute to the Hong Kong Peninsula, set between the mountains and the sea. At night, the 825-square-meter facade glows with light, weaving an elegant scene with the city’s illumination. Inside, wood-paneled feature walls inspired by Parisian arcades welcome each visitor into the store.
The iconic spiral staircase continues: a dreamlike spatial narrative and botanical motifs
Anyone who visited the previous store will surely remember its iconic staircase. The new flagship retains this central feature, giving the space’s lines a smoother, more expansive feel. Soft shades of gray-white, beige, and laurel green are paired with oak paneling and warm earth tones, creating a welcoming, home-like warmth from the moment you enter.
An exclusive tea space: Hong Kong minerals meet the art of gemstones
One of the most delightful details of the new store is undoubtedly the “tea space,” created especially for Hong Kong clients. Its walls use mineral powder finely made from locally sourced rose-colored stone, a technique jointly developed by the Maison and L’ÉCOLE School of Jewelry Arts in Hong Kong. The design cleverly bridges the characteristics of Hong Kong’s local landscape with the gemstone elements cherished by the Maison, letting you feel the subtle interplay of materials and colors as you enjoy tea.
Dedicated watch and fragrance salons: a romantic recreation of Paris’ Place Vendôme
On the second floor, the watch area is defined by midnight blue, beige, and wood tones, perfectly expressing the brand’s core concept, “Poetry of Time.” A radiating stucco pattern in the center of the ceiling echoes the guilloché decoration on the watches, creating a quiet, elegant atmosphere. Meanwhile, the fragrance area draws inspiration from the flagship at 22 Place Vendôme in Paris. Niches inspired by traditional perfumers’ workstations display the Extraordinary Collection fragrances.
Two major free exhibitions each year: step into Van Cleef & Arpels’ world of heritage
This new flagship is more than a shopping destination; it is also a hidden art gallery for art lovers. The lower level includes an exhibition space dedicated to the Maison’s history, where two themed exhibitions will be held annually.
To celebrate the grand opening of the Alexandra House flagship, the inaugural exhibition, “Welcome to Van Cleef & Arpels’ World,” will showcase historic treasures from the Maison’s heritage collection, paying tribute to its sources of inspiration and iconic creations.
Whether you want to take in the exceptional craftsmanship of high jewelry or experience the high-end spatial design by Studio Jouin Manku, the new Van Cleef & Arpels Maison flagship in Hong Kong is well worth making time to visit.
