The More You Look, the More You Love It: Jonathan Anderson Gives Dior a Laid-Back Touch, and the New Médaillon Bag Is the Best Proof
Every extension piece in this line is something you’ll want to collect ✨
After the major creative director shake-up of the past few years, which brand’s new direction has been your favorite? Jonathan Anderson‘s Dior surely ranks high on many people’s lists, with each new release proving hard to resist. Moving beyond the classically elegant French silhouettes of the past, he has brought Dior a lighter, contemporary feel with a touch of artistic sensibility. It retains the house’s DNA while adding a sense of style that truly fits into everyday life. The much-discussed Médaillon Bag is the clearest expression of this new Dior mood.

Beginning with Spring/Summer 2026, Jonathan Anderson brought the Médaillon, one of the house’s most iconic heritage motifs, back into view in a more playful form by adding bows. From the Book Tote to knitwear, rings, earrings, belts, and other ready-to-wear pieces and small accessories, Anderson’s signature structural playfulness has revived the house’s deeply rooted romantic craftsmanship. It also gives this once classically coded symbol a livelier, cuter contemporary expression.
Dior Médaillon Flap Bag
This time, the Médaillon takes center stage. Among the newly launched Médaillon bags, the Flap Bag retains its elegant character, yet feels less formal than the Lady Dior. In its place is a rounder silhouette that feels more relaxed and suited to everyday wear. Carried on the shoulder, it naturally follows the body rather than feeling overly structured, creating just the right sense of ease.

Its capacity is designed with practicality in mind, too. The small size fits a phone, cardholder, lipstick, and other daily essentials, while the medium holds a compact wallet and more personal items, making it more than sufficient for commuting or weekend outings. An adjustable shoulder strap and chain strap let you switch freely between shoulder and crossbody carry, so it fits naturally into any occasion.

Dior Médaillon Bucket Bag
The line also includes a bucket bag. The Médaillon Bucket Bag stands out by incorporating the classic motif directly into its handle construction. Metal details extend the bag’s proportions and adjust the strap length, making it more flexible to wear. It retains its easygoing character with a touch of architectural order, and pairs naturally with minimalist tailoring, denim, or even the trending balletcore look. Rather than feeling out of place, it strikes just the right balance.

The Médaillon line is now gradually launching at Dior boutiques and official channels worldwide, so interested readers may want to keep an eye out. The collection will continue to expand with related pieces, including the Médaillon heeled loafers, expected to launch in Fall 2026. They have already sparked plenty of discussion since being revealed recently. What surprises will Anderson bring next? We’re looking forward to finding out.
