Have you ever imagined opening the color palette on your phone, tapping it once, and watching your nail color change? It once seemed like something that existed only in sci-fi movies, yet this very gadget appeared at CES 2026. iPolish, a set of stick-on false nails, completely rethinks nail art by bringing cosmetics and electronics together, almost like magic!

The core technology behind this product is somewhat similar to the e-readers we know. It uses a technology called electrophoretic display, with countless tiny capsules containing charged nanoparticles sealed inside each thin nail tip. A specially designed “wand” applies different voltages, causing the particles to move and arrange themselves into the desired color. Most amazingly, it only uses power while changing color. Once the color appears, it stays locked in even after the power is disconnected, so there’s no need to worry about battery life.

It’s remarkably easy to use. First, charge the “wand” and connect it to the dedicated app on your phone via Bluetooth. Then choose your mood color for the day from up to 400 shades on the screen. Once you’ve made your choice, place the finger with the press-on nail over the wand’s sensor, and in about 5 seconds, your nail will take on its new color. Say goodbye to harsh chemical odors, long waits for polish to dry, and the hassle of removing nail polish.

The starter kit is currently priced at US$ 95, or about HK$ 740 or NT$ 3,100. It includes nail tips in two different shapes, so you can choose based on your preference. If a nail tip is accidentally damaged or lost, replacements can also be purchased individually for about US$ 6.50 each.
Although these press-on nails contain intricate circuits, they’re kept to about 1 mm thick and look almost no different from traditional gel nails when worn. The one thing to keep in mind is that, because of their delicate internal structure, you should never file or trim them yourself, or this piece of “digital skin” may stop working.
