Remember sitting in front of the TV as a kid, completely lost in the magic of Disney cartoons? Prada is bringing that nostalgic, hand-drawn magic to the fashion world. For its 2026 holiday campaign, “Drawing Prada,” the brand brought on veteran animator John Pomeroy—who worked on classics like Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too and Pocahontas—to blend live-action footage with traditional 2D animation, whisking viewers away into a whimsical winter fairytale.

Prada tapped veteran animator John Pomeroy, who joined Disney in 1973 and contributed to iconic films including Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too, Pocahontas, and Treasure Planet. Now, he brings his familiar hand-drawn style to Prada’s world, using delicate linework and lively characters to create a winter scene straight out of a classic animated movie.

The most enchanting part of this campaign is how it naturally weaves live action with traditional hand-drawn animation. Photographed by Glen Luchford, the live-action shots were layered with hand-illustrated snowy landscapes, cozy interiors, and playful animal characters. From a fox keeping Maya Hawke company on a winter stroll to a mischievous mouse running off with Sadie Sink’s shoe, fairytale surprises pop up throughout. To make the cast fit naturally into this animated world, lighting, shadows, and perspective had to be calculated down to the millimeter.

When everyone prioritizes speed, Prada chooses to slow down

Instead of turning to AI for a quick fix, Prada returned to traditional hand-drawn craft, drawing every single frame by hand. The brand even shared behind-the-scenes sketches, revealing the iterations behind character movements and scene designs. In an era where AI can spit out polished visuals in seconds, Prada uses every stroke to remind us that art isn’t just about the finished product—it’s about the time and heart poured into it, bringing back the unique warmth only hand-drawn animation can deliver.
