然而 Lily Rose Depp 對自己的身份自有一套想法，早前她接受澳洲版《VOGUE》訪問，直言當星二代其實也有煩惱：「我之所以得到這個角色，全因為我的姓氏，但我總是拒絕這個想法。」Lily Rose Depp 在訪問中大方承認她的幸運，但明顯不怎麼喜歡，要花多倍力量才能甩掉父母的名氣。
“I’ve always been under the impression that I have to work twice as hard to prove to people that I’m not just here because it’s easy for me. I feel like you’re not what your name is. If you’re not right for something, they’re not just going to hire you because your name looks good on the post.”
Lily Rose Depp 從小就已經很想像媽媽一樣，當個多棲發展的藝人，音樂、模特、演藝事業也想嘗試。她亦深明自身努力的重要性，她會花大量時間鑽研法國和美國電影，又和前輩如 Natalie Portman 討教演技，用盡方法讓自己進步，不想別人因為自己的姓氏，而否定t其實力： 「我總是覺得必須比別人多努力兩倍，才能證明自己能站在這位置，不僅僅是因為對我來說很容易。如果你不適合做某事，人們不會因為你的貼文拍得不錯而僱用你。」
