Justin Bieber 和 Selena Gomez 分分合合的戲碼已上演了 N 個回合，日前 Bieber 友人更向傳媒透露 Bieber 還沒放棄與 Gomez 修補關係的機會，而另一邊廂 Gomez 舊愛 The Weeknd 卻突然釋出新歌《Call out my name》，歌詞更明示自己對 Gomez 愛恨交纏的情感，看來外界一直低估了他跟 Gomez 分手後的情傷。
The Weekend 日前在深夜時分突然釋出新專輯《My Dear Melancholy》，6 首新歌看來是圍繞他跟兩位前度女友 Selena Gomez 及 Bella Hadid 的感情，而其中最明顯表達他對 Selena Gomez 情感的歌，則是專輯第 1 首《Call out my name》。 The Weeknd 不但在這首歌裡多次重覆「I put you on top」及「I claimed you so proud and openly」字句來展現 Gomez 過去在 The Weeknd 心中的地位；同時歌詞更有一句「I almost cut a piece of myself for your life」，似是暗示自己曾為 Gomez 的病而有打算捐腎給 Gomez。
然而這段歷時不足一年的感情，卻為 The Weeknd 帶來無比痛苦，他在歌曲內明言「I said I didn’t feel nothing, baby, but I lied」，以表達自己為掩飾分手的傷痛而選擇向外界撒謊，故作堅強；分手後的傷痛令 The Weeknd 對 Gomez 既愛且恨，歌曲內直白寫上「You just wasted my time」、「Guess I was just another pit stop」、「I want you to stay even though you don’t want me」、「Girl, why can’t you wait ’til I fall out of love?」。歌曲最後更以「Girl, call out my name, and I’ll be on my way」作結，似乎 The Weeknd 本人仍然對 Gomez 念念不忘，未知 Gomez 聽罷此曲後，又會否作出回音呢？
